鼓励使用GPS

知道这里很多人都喜欢用地图. 我以前也是. 家里无数的地图. 还把曾去过的地方, 开过的路线都标在一张全国地图上. 不过最近使用GPS后, 就开始喜欢上了.

首先申明没有东西是完美的. 汽车有自燃的, 飞机有坠毁的. 我们还是选择了开车坐飞机. GPS 可能会指错路, 但99%的情况下, 都是对的. GPS还要更新电子地图. GPS指错路大多(注意, 我说的是大多数情况下)是在新路, 新区.

GPS大多有语音提示.提前1迈, 1/4迈就有提示, 而且回提示从高速公路左边还是右边出去. 出去后靠左还是靠右(这在大城市特别有用. 有时高速刚出去又有左右岔道). 这样很少会错过出口. 看地图有时会错过出口, 至少我有过, 特别是在晚上. James Kim这次是在晚上错过了42号公路的出口, 更糟糕的是, James又从23号上岔到小路上去了. 见下面的图. 左下细长的黄色线是23号公路. 23号的路况应该要比小路好些. 这样一来汽车不容易出事, 发现情况不对, 还可以掉头回开. 搜救也容易发现车. 有GPS应该不会从23号上岔开.



GPS定位比人看地图定位精确. 看地图主要是根据周围的街名, 高速公路路标定位. 但是在人烟稀少的地方, 就象James Kim在23号路上, 没有地标, 看地图是没法定位的. James开到了小路上. 晚上2点, 车困在路上. 几天后, 当James决定独自去寻求援助时，他以为离最近的小镇只有４迈，而实际上有１５迈．要是有ＧＰＳ，　就会知道自己在什么位置，　离最近的地方有多远．这样就可以知道能不能走路去求援．如果James知道有１５迈，　也许会留在车里而被救的．　

ＧＰＳ出了定位外，　还有很多加油站，ＡＴＭ，餐馆，旅店的位置．在离James停车１迈的地方，　就有Black Bar Lodge.虽然当时可能没人，但有食物，　可以呆在室内保暖，生存１个月都没问题．我也不知道那个lodge有没有被收录到ＧＰＳ里面，但知道附近的这些地方总是好的．

　

当时James准备沿河去寻找外援．要是有ＧＰＳ的话，应该发现到河边最近的线路，这样也许会发现那个lodge, 而不是沿红线走．

以前还在cnet上看过James介绍ＭＰ３ player. 结果悲剧发生了．James使用的地图可能是老版本，地图上没有标明２３号冬天关闭．

有了ＧＰＳ，照样可以带上地图，一点也不妨碍看地图的乐趣．现在ＧＰＳ也比较便宜了．　２００刀就有基本功能的带语音的ＧＰＳ．
