The PD is the date I-130 is received by USCIS.
1. Need to wait 5 years for PD to become current so spouse can file I-485.
2. If waiting in US, spouse needs to keep a valid non-immigrant status at all time before filing I-485.
3. No I-485 related benefits until spouse is eligible to file I-485. Spouse can work or study if he/she is in a visa status corresponding to the purpose (such as F1 to study or H1 to work,..).
