 My colleague’s wife works in national weather service hurricane center.  Initially she got an offer from San Diego.  Her reason for rejecting the offer was the following 

there is not much to do year around.  Most of the days are the same.  Occasionally they add a morning fog advisory in the routine. It’s just boring for meteorologists in San Diego.
