I sympathize with you. I often react strongly when my wife comments about my kids or any other kids negatively, even if her statement is factual and truthful. In my mind, the concern should be about kids, not who is right , who is right in predicting an event, not "I told you so".
Our kids still need our guidance and encouragement, they do not need our nagging. A warm, connected family has much more long term impact than constant enhancement or involvement of activities outside our daily mandate things.
