Very interesting. I was thinking about this myself yesterday.

We did, just not to a much less extent.  Reasons:

1. We were not in an individualistic society.  Self-expression is not encouraged.

2. Because there was much less parental management and expectation, there was not much to rebel against.

3. There was no pop culture to breed the teenage rebellion culture.
