My experience was different from you. 8Am reported to court, 8:3
court room, about 60 people. Judge will ask one by one (probably based on last name, because I was in the very last in two jury duties). If one passed judge's questions----1, do you have schedule conflict in coming trail, 2. do you think you can make unbiased judgment?... he/she would sit on the juror seat, until 12 selected. Then the lawyers of both sides asked questions, if they didn't like you response, you were out, judge would call another person from the remaining candidates and repeated the procedure. If all 60 people are examined but still no 12 selected, another candidate team will be called in. I remember one time I left court at 3:00PM, another time was 4:00PM(still no 12 were selected, would continue on the second day)
