The fountains mingle with the river           

And the rivers with the ocean,     

The winds of heaven mix for ever              

With a sweet emotion;  

Nothing in the world is single,     

All things by a law divine

In one another's being mingle— 

Why not I with thine?     

 

See the mountains kiss high heaven,         

And the waves clasp one another;             

No sister-flower would be forgiven          

If it disdain'd its brother;

And the sunlight clasps the earth,              

And the moonbeams kiss the sea—           

What are all these kissings worth,               

If thou kiss not me?

万泉归于河，

百川纳于海；

纵使风起间，

也携情美甜。

世上无孤零，

皆有神主领；

万物均有伴，

何不尔汝攀？

 

不见峰擎天，

不见波偎涟？

若妹小觑兄，

岂能得宽容？

日光拥大地，

月光抚大海；

若尔非与吾，

空给那些吻！

 

翻译心路：

1. 采用古体五字律句翻译该诗，而不采用自由体是因为原诗具有严格的韵律：两段，每段八行，对仗，交叉押韵等。

2. 这首诗不难理解但有些难译，问题出在一方面要译成韵律诗才能跟原诗相配，才有韵味，但另一方面，原诗基本句句对仗，就是第一段第六行例外，这就给汉译造成了困难，因为英诗里允许这样，而汉诗里不允许。在汉诗里如果句句相对，突然有有一句不对，通篇就成了败笔。

3. 译文里有好几句都差强人意，那只能等到日后慢慢推敲了。

4. 五个字一行太少了点，有时不够使唤。

5.注意第一段第七行有不同版本，这里用的是In one another's being mingle—，先前有人贴出来的好象是In one spirit meet and mingle—
