It is not a problem for you since you are still in the West :)

There are all kinds of biases in the West but you can still be an independent thinker if you choose to. The most important thing you need to learn to live in the West is: you choose what you want to do. In many cases, you can't choose the environment, but you can choose how to response to it. Once you can do that, you gain the ultimate freedom. One of the most famous book, "Man's search for meaning", is all about this concept.

I think you can argue that everyone should do the same in China, but that is not what I was taught there and I don't know if Chinese understand this concept.

I feel sorry for you for not being able to adapt to the country you reside and not being able to enjoy your life to its fullest extend. Despite all the problems, I still thing America is the promised land. I am grateful that my family is thriving everyday.
