I'm curious, why do you feel the urge to post something like this in life in UK. It seems more appropriate to be posted in life in Japan.

To be honest, you were a bit ill prepared for this trip obviously. For example, the bad reputation of English food. Come on, it might be true 25 years ago ... now the reputation of restaurant standard in London has surpassed NYC.

A few tips here for your next trip:

1. choose a right season, e.g. between April and October.

2. equip yourself with a most up-to-date good food guide

3. if you need to find a loo, go to the nearest pub

4. if you have to take a push chair, make sure to avoid rush hour. It is nothing more irritating than see a woman with a push chair on a commuting train or bus at rush hours.

5. avoid tourist hot spots on Friday night and weekends

6. if you have a little child with you, check which stations have disabled service sign.

7. avoid the things that most tourists do, take a walk instead.

By the way, London is the best place outside India for indian food. Indian food in Tokyo is so rubbish. What a wasted opportunity!
