there is a reason why WQMM is making 350k now and lots of others are not. she was a post-doc in 2003 and whole family was making <10W. so maybe only 5W for her at that time.
life is about making decisons. you can get lucky once or twice. however over time good and bad lucks balance out and good decision-making and hard work dominiate the outcome. WQMM's career success and investment success are both reflecting her innate capabilities.
so stop whining and start wining. while you are savoring your wine, also try to learn from others' success and improve your own decision making through introspection, instead of attributing the lack of personal career or investment success to external factors:
1. I reside in a bad location for RE investment;
2. I do not have enough initial capital;
3. I do not make enough to qualify for mortgage;
4. my parents are not rich and are not helping me;
5. my LD is not supportive and always pulls my legs;
6. my kids need all the attention I have;
7. ...
we are all grown-ups and should take reponsibilities for our own success or the lack of it.
