谁能科普一下房屋heating的原理。

20年的一个房子，旧空调很小，今天叫了天然气公司的人过来开气，热水器是用气的。天冷了，我顺便测试一下空调， 能否加热。加热开关开了以后，有声音， 但是空调室外机不动，室内能加热。我印象里， 家里的空调加热的时候， 室外机是转的。高手们给科普一下，是不同的原理吗？
