Curious, what was the outcome of your ticket? Did you get your E+ seat? If so, did UA re-issue your ticket to reflect the proper Fare Code (for the E+ seat)?

The other option is to have it re-fared - and get a voucher of the difference.

The UA re-fared voucher has some unique characters that are better than other vouchers they issued under difference circumstances.
