The price is very good. Your time period is the hot season for Hawaii, the airtickets should be expensive, around $600 from LA <-> Honolulu, and you fly from the east coast...

Take a look at the hotels, it may be very cheap....

If you are a nature lover, you shold stay at Maui for 5 days, and 3 days is more than enough for Oahu.

One suggestion, the cheapest time to go Hawaii is around Chinese New Year, If you can wait, you should go by then..... I checked the price this year, everything was so cheap.... just too bad, I couldn't make it that time this year, I did mine in May, the price was up $200/person......
