I guess you probably will have to go alone and just enjoy it.
Since you are all out to have a good time, then dont worry about recoupment of the "lost partner".

Like I said, not too many people would shell out beaucoup money to watch bears catching salmons. :-)

Besides, some people may have reservation to take the floatplane, or the bush pilot planes. I know of a person who absolutely refuses to take the sightseeing planes in Alaska because of the remote possibility of plane crash as Alaska weather is highly unpredictable. He took helicopter ride in Hawaii, but refused to take small planes in Alaska.

Just a few days ago there was a plane crash at Johnston Lake - one teenager (the helper to the pilot) did not make it. The accident is still under investigation.

Personally we prefer driving to Denali then train ride - the scene is not that much different via car or via train, but you lose mobility when go by train.
