Hiking at Mission Peak Regional Reserve (Fremont)

 

The determined hikers for Mission Peak, those who can survive 2.8 miles steady climbing, are supposed be rewarded with views of Mount Hamilton to the south, the Santa Cruz Mountains to the west, Mt. Tamalpais to the north, and Mt. Diablo and the Sierra Nevada to the northeast. So, I decided to give it a try. And today's weather seems to be perfect for the hike, warm in 60es, but not hot, clear sky with little breeze.

There is really no need for a trail map, as the only direction is "up". Some part can be a little steep, especially when a short-cut-route is chosen. But, mostly, it's not too bad.

One day while driving, Chris asked to look back from the rear mirror. Unexpectedly, Mountain Shasta covered in snow was rising above the cloud. So, I have since remembered to take a break occasionally and look back. There might be something unexpected but beautiful right there.

Life seems to be too easy for them - abundant food and sunshine, taking nap whenever they want...

The trail stretched on-and-on with no end in sight.

At this point (10 min from the top), I almost wanted to call it a quit. It's a little windy up there, and the slope got to be a bit deep since I chose a short-cut route.

Thank God! Finally, Mountain Everest is concurred! Hmm... Not quite.
