NJ is like a big city itself, there are generally no clear separations between cities like Woodbridge, Edison, Rahway etc. Parking is never a problem in NJ, and you rarely need to pay for parking unless you go to downtown area. There are many cities within 10 miles of Woodbridge. Woodbridge itself has cities like Islin, Avenel, all are fairly small. There is a big Indian town in Islin, biggest in N America (Very cheap nuts and vegetables).
You cannot rent a regular for 3 months with lease, since they all require 1 year. Therefore, you might be better off renting a room from a family, and of course you have to tell them that you are only going to be there for three months. $4-500 is a good price, since a 1-bed room apt cost about $800 in a so so place. I stayed in Woodbridge for two years before buying my house in Edison.
There are many free chinese newspapers and you can probably get information or the board in the Chinese market.
It is absolutely safe in NJ, and rarely a problem if you do not go to certain areas.
Eidson (separately by 1 street from Woodbridge) is an Asian town, there 50% asians in the schools, and more than half of these are Indians and the rest mostly Chinese. There are a lot of Chinese here.
