Had a candle light dinner with my German friend off the river, it was very nice. Some guys came over and played violin while we were eating. But it cost me dearly too, over 100 euros not including the tips.
We stayed in a samll island couple of miles off the main island. It was nice and quiet, many Italians live there. Cost about 80 euros a night, not too bad.
The boat for transportation there is a joke, it was very crowded. Italian mamas were rude.
