SPEEDING TICKET

Hi:

Today is my first vacation day at Vermont.

We went to a "Corn Maze". However there is no one at corn maze and it is so hot. So I told my daughters (4 and 8)  that we go back to hotel.

Just drove for 2 min on the main street, the police car is behind me. He told me that " it is 35 zone and I am driving at 46".

I was very surprised. I am not speeding at all. I am the one who always drives slowly. The road is not flat. It is up and down. I pointed it out to the police that "I am not constantly driving at 46. It could be 46 for a second, and it went back to 40 since the road is not flat.". He said "I used the laser gun and your car is at 46, the next car is at 35. You can go to the court to deny it".

I am puzzled. If my car was at 46 for a second and the 40 the next second, am I speeding?

If I deny the ticket, I will need to drive 3 hours to the court. The ticket is $123.

My impression to Vermont suddenly changed. My daughters are all scared of police now.
