If we can understand the difference, it is easer to start a conversation  with them. If “诚信” is very important, then we need to find a way to disagree with them without accusing them of not being “诚信”. 
 
In US, it is very important to be politically correct. Everyone has to behave in public, say the right thing and not to offend anyone.  Lots of Chinese think it is hypercritical and a waste of everyone's time, but I think the positive effect of being political correct is it forces everyone to be very careful and respects other people's preference. It makes it possible to build an inclusive society. I hope China can adopt the similar practice. The real challenge though, is the belief that everyone is born equal. I don't know how that would work in China.
