Maxxis to be exclusive tire sponsor of L.A. Lakers
As official tire of the Lakers, Maxxis will receive promotional opportunities such as courtside LED TV signage, a banner in the Toyota Sports Center practice arena and the chance to host a giveaway night for attending Lakers fans during the season.SUWANEE, Ga.—Maxxis International-USA has signed a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers to be the team’s exclusive tire sponsor for the 2014-15 National Basketball Association season.
“We are happy to associate the Maxxis brand with the L.A. Lakers, a team that has featured so many legendary players over the years,” said Matt Clark, Maxxis marketing manager.
“Basketball is popular around the world, so we hope to reach Lakers fans in this country and outside the U.S. as well.”
Maxxis is the U.S. subsidiary of Taiwan’s Cheng Shin Rubber Ind. Co. Ltd. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
This is Maxxis’ first venture in the NBA. Other professional sports teams sponsored by Maxxis include the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles and Cincinnati Reds Major League Baseball teams and Liverpool FC, a British soccer team.
In addition, Maxxis sponsors the Australian Open tennis tournament.
