Some made it sound all about playing favors. After all, it's still a sports and business world. Just maybe, the decision has something to do with sports and business as well. Mike Woodson led the team to a 18-6 record and made the playoffs, with and without Lin, while enduring other injuries in the team.
It's not ground-breaking achievement, but it's certainly worthy consideration to promote him from intrim coach to official head coach for an average Knicks team. People argue how unfit Woodson would be for the Knicks, but who else is available as a clear cut better candidate? People just randomly threw out PJ's name, on what ground? Why would PJ, the best coach in NBA history, who retired from Lakers, want to coach Knicks?
Networking and relationship matter in society, so do in NBA. But in a multi-billion business, it's hard to believe that so-called favorism, or bunch of people having same agent, would decide the whole business direction, as if the Knicks world only consists of 4 people.
Mark my words, Knicks will sign Jeremy, and JR will walk. Jeremy will start for Knicks, under Woodson. In my opinion, Lin has a lot more to worry about than whether Woodson likes him or whether PJ wants to coach him. It's more important for him to be fully recovered from surgery, and improve his game. I am looking forward to the new chapters of Linsanity.
