Pick and Roll needs reliable midrange jump shot.

That's why I kept repeating that Lin needs to work on his shots. That should be his first priority, it will help him a long way - more weapon, more variation, and it also saves him energy and reduces chance of injury.

Amare was very very good at PnR with Nash.

Small forward, is actually NOT suitable to play pick and roll with point guard. Because with Center and Big Forward clogging the paint, your PnR will have very limited option, and hard to get back to defense if the shot doesn't go in.

So we see a lot of, 1/4, 1/5, 2/4, 2/5, or 3/4, 3/5, but rarely 1/3 pick and roll.
