Jeremy Lin is out of the Brooklyn Nets lineup with a hamstring injury. But the popular point guard is still contributing -- with his sharp eye for detail and get-into-Harvard work ethic. Lin takes careful notes throughout each Nets game and hands the data over to head coach Kenny Atkinson post-game. Atkinson has taken to calling the reports "Linology" -- he'd rather have Linsanity, but he'll take what he can get. Atkinson wanted a team first player in Lin, and even hobbled Lin's engagement is proving he's that guy.

Lin's also preparing for what seems like a natural post-career fit. Lin doesn't have to take a lot of notes to notice that former players who went on to NBA coaching jobs have been predominantly point guards like him. Former point guards Jason Kidd and Doc Rivers currently steer the Bucks and the Clippers respectively. Steve Kerr of Golden State played a hybrid point guard shooting guard. Former point man Scott Brooks heads up the Wizards. Tyronn Lue of the Cavs, Nate McMillan of the Pacers. Other point guards who've served major time as NBA coaches include Scott Skiles, Mo Cheeks and Lenny Wilkens. Lin, a basketball lifer, will certainly be a candidate.
