What is the Relation of BPH and Sexual Intercourses?

BPH, known as Benign Prostate Hyperplasia, is a common chronic disease among advanced men. The sufferers age are all over their 50s. But can sexual intercourses affect or arouse BPH?

BPH is also called enlarged prostate, the morbidity increases with age. When men are around the age of 45, there prostate got two trends: part of them are trending to wither, while the other are enlarging.

As the prostate gland is located beneath the bladder, and the urethra is through prostate, when the prostate is enlarging and oppress the urethra, you may got urinary problems.

There still remains dispute on the causes of prostate enlargement. There is one view that BPH can be affected or aroused by sexual intercourses. And there are researches indicates that men who have 2 times per week intercourses in their youth, and have one time per week, and one time every two to three week, have lower BPH morbidity. Also their prostate enlargement is slighter. Morbidity increases with frequency of having intercourses. That monks and single men seldom occur pathologic prostate enlargement, also proves this standpoint.

As a result, it is suggested that to prevent from BPH, men should neither restrain nor indulge in sex. Having too much sexual intercourses in short time, the prostate would be congestive, which would cause pathologic prostate enlargement. Especially in middle age, you should take good care of your prostate, and let it rest.

I think enlargement of the prostate is just one of the things that happens with age. Most monks and single men indulge in masturbation which, through ejaculation, would have the same effect upon the prostrate. I understand that regular ejaculation is good for the prostate and can help reduce the incidence of prostate enlargement. Where there is a narrowing of the urethra because of enlargement there is a simple procedure done via the penis to enlarge the urethra and resolve the problem.

Most the reports that I have said that sex is beneficial:

"How does a lot of sexual activity protect against prostate cancer? Experts suggest that ejaculation may help eliminate toxins in the prostate, reduce the development of tiny crystals that are associated with some cancers, and enhance the immune system’s response to cancer. Sexual activity also reduces stress and quiets activity of the central nervous system, which may contribute to cancer cell division and growth and overall wellness. According to a report in the April 7, 2004 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association, men who reported having more than 20 ejaculations per month were 33 percent less likely to develop prostate cancer than those who had fewer ejaculations. The Harvard University study defined sexual activity as ejaculation from sexual intercourse, masturbation, or during sleep. The researchers evaluated nearly 30,000 health professionals, of whom 1,449 developed prostate cancer. Assuming the men answered the survey questions honestly, the results indicated that an active sex life is not associated with a higher cancer risk in most men. (Leitzmann 2004) "
