What does it say in that box? You can google Kansas code with that reference number and it will tell things about the charge. In addition, the court's website (also listed on the website) can point to what is the charge and the amount of penalty and points, if any.

If you have time, just call the number and plead not guilty and wait for the court date. You will receive a letter telling you when to go to the court or you may even just be told over the phone about your court date.

On that day, go to the court on time and wait for your name to be called. When called, just go up and say not guilty. The judge will give you an opportunity to talk to the prosecutor. Just tell the judge "Yes, I want to talk to the prosecutor."

Then you wait in another line to talk to the prosecutor (as a lot of people will do the same). When it is your turn, explain the circumstance, or most likely, the prosecutor won't even listen to you explanation and just offer you a deal. Take the deal, sign a piece of paper then go back to the court room and wait for your name to be called again by the judge.

When called, the judge will ask you to confirm your plea. Simply say yes. Then you go to pay to fine and get out of the courthouse back to your eveyday life.
