Back out of this now too much for us,
Back in a time made simple by the loss
Of detail, burned, dissolved, and broken off
Like graveyard marble sculture in the weather,
There is a house that is no more a house
Upon a farm that is no more a farm
And in a town that is no more a town.

Whose woods these are I think I know.
清夜誰家林，
His house is in the village though;
鄉親堪比鄰；
He will not see me stopping here
不期過路人，
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
賞松雪夜吟。
My little horse must think it queer
馭馬亦徘徊，
To stop without a farmhouse near
何駐無人苑？
Between the woods and frozen lake
林深冰湖遠，
The darkest evening of the year.
更深暗經年。
He gives his harness bells a shake
忽聞鑾鈴催，
To ask if there is some mistake.
可有平安隨？
The only other sound's the sweep
野曠杳人息，
Of easy wind and downy flake.
清風送雪歸。
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
林深情致遠，
But I have promises to keep,
一諾值千言。
And miles to go before I sleep,
奮蹄更夜行，
And miles to go before I sleep.

唐左军容使严遵美，阉官中仁人也。尝言北司为供奉官，胯衫给事，无秉简之仪。又云：“枢密使廨署，三间屋书柜而已，亦无视事之厅。堂状后帖黄，指挥公事，乃杨复泰。（“泰”明抄本作“恭”。）夺宰相权也。遵美尝发狂，手足舞蹈之。旁有一猫一犬，猫谓犬曰：“军容改常也。”犬曰：“何用管。”俄而舞定，且异猫犬之言。遇昭宗播迁凤翔，乃求致仕汉中，寻徙于剑南青城山下，卜别墅以居之。年过八十而终。其忠正谦约，与西门李玄为季孟。于时诛宦官，唯西川不奉诏，由是脱祸。家有北司治乱记八卷，备载阉官忠侫好恶，盖巷伯之流也，未必俱为邪僻。良由南班轻忌大过，以致怨怒，盖邦国不幸也。先是。路岩自成都移镇渚宫，所乘马忽作人语，且曰：“芦荻花，此花开后路无家。”不久及祸。然畜类之语，岂有物凭之乎？石言于晋，殆斯比也。（出《北梦琐言》）
