it should be ok with most situation

if you are talking about cpl, it should be ok. even with wide angle lens, it really depend on the taste sometime, uneven patch of blue sky may not be a problem for some people.  in situations such as photographing reflection of a mountain, you should avoid using cpl because it MAY filter out the reflection due to the property of the cpl. 

if you are talking about lpl, the filter can mess up your metering system and give you the wrong exposure metering because some of the camera mirror will not reflect all of the linearly polarized light through the lens barrel to the metering system of the camera.
