My sister in law and her girlfriend went to Machu Picchu in 2001? (not sure about the year but that was the year Peru had a big earth quake near Lima, 1 day after they left Lima). I dont think they took the trail like you did. I believe they went by car and only started their climb when they were in the neighborhood. They flew from Toronto to Lima to join a local tour mainly for British tourists. My sister in law said by Day 4 they felt they could not feel their legs any more ... I cannot imagine how you did it! Truly an unforgetable journey!
