A lesson in my student time

When I was a Ph.D candidate, one of my fellow students (an American boy) was away during one exam day.

After he came back, I told him that I have the exam papers which I can give him a copy. 

He replied me that the professor told him the exam papers will be the same for him. Hence, he can not look at the papers. 

This is one lesson I learned in US: one needs to be honest.
