Is she really your mom? Why didn't you pay for her medical bills? You metioned she has no income here, it doesn't matter. This only tells me that she has income oversea. Like my mother she has Green Card. She does not receive anything from US government since she has retirement income in China, so she does not meet low income assistant. She didn't lie on the application like many other older parents even thought they were retired from good pay jobs, has one or two houses in big cities in China. Too late for neigoiation with the hospital, talk to before the Judge, explain your situation well and maybe Judge will lower the fee for you.
