Collection agency

It's a shame, really..

I got calls and mails from a collection agency regarding the bill from Hospital of University of Pennsylvania. Then I realized something.

When I was pregnant, I chosen Hospital of University of Pennsylvania(HUP) simply because I could be enrolled in the "Special Delivery Program". The program was nice at first, I got free parking, free T shirt, free private room and so on. Also, According to their policy (see http://www.obgyn.upenn.edu/psd/psd_plus.html), "No personal balance billing for obstetrical and anesthesiology services and fees not covered by insurance." But I was charged this $240 after the delivery. Unfortunately, I moved after the birth of my child, and i obsolutely had no idea of the bill.

Now HUP sold my account to the collection agency and the agency is after me: they call me, mail me..Frankly, they are so rude..Even after I explained my situation, they still harass me..whenever I want to explain, they let me talk to the hopital. However, when I called the hospital, the hospital let me call the collection agency. The agency also report my case to the credit union and now I am overcharged more than $100 in car insurance.

I have to say, HUP sucks as usual. I don't know at this timepoint what can I do. I don't know if I have kept the evidence of the Program, except that their policy can still be found on line. I called the director of the program, she never responsed.

Is there anybody know something about the Special Delivery Program at Penn? Anybody can give some advice on how to deal with collection agency and the bad credit by some else's fault? I don't know what I can do if HUP denies everything?
