You should do this way...

First, you have responsbility to the check that you wrote.

However, you can tell the bank that you can pay $225 but the bank must provide the person who check out the check all information because fraudulent.  If the bank refused, then you have right to argue.  Otherwise, the bank can damage your credit score.
