Not so easy

Shoplifting certainly is criminal. But you need not worry too much. The crime has two categories, misdemeanor and felony. Shoplifting belongs to the first type. The grocery store had settled the case with you. They did not report to the police and press the charge. Definitely there was no involvement of DA who does the prosecution. It will not be in your record and affect your green card application. Just take it easy.
