第二，一般海牙公约规定，跨国收养家庭不能指定被收养的孩子。但是，如果被收养是亲戚，收养家庭可以指定，但是收养家庭仍然要经过家庭审查（见上），以保证孩子的利益。see family exception in

那些通过海牙公约到中国领养孤儿的，做家庭审查以及递交移民申请，大约需要几万美元和几年时间。你这个情况能够省的仅仅是在中国的费用，美国的审查费用你还是要出。

最后，如果你居住在中国，可以在中国直接收养亲戚，那么你的收养不需要经过海牙公约。但是，美国大使馆不会马上给孩子来美签证。美国法律要求你在国外收养后，被收养孩子必须和收养家庭住两年以上（在中国），然后就可以按immediate family直接申请绿卡。
