案情回顾：
10月17日这天，美国 ABC夜间脱口秀主持Jimmy Kimmel 童鞋，在搞笑节目中采访四个美国小孩（其中还有亚裔）， Jimmy 问："America owes China a lot of money, $1.3 trillion, How should we pay them back?"美国欠中国1.3万亿美元，我们怎么还？”一个白人男孩子回答：Shoot cannons all the way over andkill everyone in China,朝中国发射大炮，把所有的中国人都杀死。。”当Jimmy 再问：“Should we allow the Chinese to live?我们是不是该让中国人生存？”同一个男孩抢着回答说：“no 不！”…..
如果您觉得所有的孩子都不可以被成人灌输杀戮的观点，如果您希望您的下一代健康成长，如果您盼望美国这个家更加美丽，如果您也想反对jimmy先生的这个节目， 除了在白宫的网站签名抗议， http://*****/pfo4h2d，还有一种有效的办法，让美国听到您的声音。
足不出户，写信给您居住所在地的参议员、众议员，这是您的权利，他们必须就您的信给您回信，这是他们的义务。

We would like to thank you for your hard work representing the people of xxx state(所在的州） and letting our voices be heard at our nation’s capitol.
We are residents in and around xxxx City/ County(需要填写您居住地地址), We are writing to draw your attention to the racial hatred displayed and promoted by the Jimmy Kimmel Show broadcasted on October 16, 2013. On the Kid‘s Table segment, a young boy stated “…kill everyone in China” to Jimmy Kimmel‘s question about how to solve our debts to China. Shortly after Mr. Jimmy Kimmel himself asked “Should we allow the Chinese to live?"
We think such statements go beyond the normal boundaries of humor. It’s offensive and disturbing, suggesting that racial genocide is perfectly fine as a point of humor. If these same jokes were about Jewish-Americans or African-Americans, there would have been far more of an uproar and media attention to this incident. The jokes are not only extremely offensive to the Chinese-American community, but they are contrary to the values of our great nation.
To Mr. Kimmel‘s credit, he came out to offer an apology to the protestors outside his studio on October 29. However, in his communication with the protesters, he insisted he did the segment as a joke and with the intent to entertain. This shows precisely the poor judgment and lack of racial sensitivity on the part of Mr. Kimmel and the employees of ABC involved in the show. The fact that this is not a live show and the producer chose to air it demonstrated an obvious lack of safeguards at ABC to avoid producing content that promotes racial hatred.
Hence, we demand that ABC/Disney do the following:
- Investigate how the said segment got on air, especially if it was scripted as many late night shows are, and hold people responsible.
- Implement racial sensitivity training programs for employees.
- Examine the process and procedure in the production of the show and implement safeguards to ensure content with racial hatred do not air again.
- Make the results of the investigation and the remedies public and offer a formal apology on the ABC website.
We are trying hard to raise public awareness of this incident. There is an ongoing White House petition to “Investigate Jimmy Kimmel Kids Table Government Shutdown Show on ABC Network” which has more than97,000 signatures as of November 5, 2013（需要根据写信的日期更改数字）. We’d like to hear your opinion on this event and lend your support to our effort against racial hatred. Hopefully together we will make this country a better place for all.
