This has nothing to do with you are step-mother or not.  The life you described is not a long-lived life, unless you decide not to have any kids forwver.  Even that way, as you age, life will be becoming more dull.  This is only the honeymoon period.  Should not blame the change on the kids.  More important, you need to adjust your attitude.  Life is not just honey.  It has all the tastes.
