谁让它们长那么像呢？

我和老万开车出去， 有一搭没一搭地闲聊， 突然我看到路边有个店铺门脸， 上面写着： Pawn Shop。

Pawn？ 我说： 那不是手掌的意思吗？ 手掌店是什么店？

老万说：错了！ Pawn不是手掌， 手掌是： Palm。

Palm?  我说：是Palm Beach 那个 Palm吗？

我又问： Palm Beach为啥叫手掌Beach？ 是因为它的地形像手掌吗？（先说清楚哈，我没去过Palm Beach。）

老万说： 错了！ 不是因为它的地形像手掌， 是因为那里有很多Palm Tree。

Palm Tree 为啥叫Palm Tree？是因为它的叶子像手掌吗？

老万说： 可能是吧？

想想也是， 挺好玩儿的。

无语！

突然一个图像跳到我脑海里， 我又糊涂了。

我说： 我怎么记得狗爪子也叫Pawn来着？ 

老万大声说： NO！ 狗爪子叫Paw， 跟Pawn没有半点关系！

OK， 我说，没关系为啥两个字长那么像？

老万拿出他的杀手锏:  Because it is what it is!

Whatever!  OK！ 说别的。
