我觉得，是表达方式的差异吧

我的体会，老美无论男女，不论生活中还是工作上，一般都挺愿意给人意见的。但你要表达清楚，不要等他猜心。你要把上面意思和他说了，我不相信他会说，我不管，随你自生自灭，要真这样，踹之。

另外，每次当你需要他意见时，不要等他主动，自己主动问，诸如，I would like to run something by you; I'm not terribly sure about how to deal with something and would like your advice; I would like to pick your brain on something; could you help me figure something out... 诸如此类。一般人绝对会乐意的。事后要谢他，it was really helpful, it really helped me to figure out the situation/crystalize the problem..., I really appreciate it...
