If you’ve ever dreamt of waking up to stunning sea views, then how about living in this home pinned precariously to the side of a cliff face?

The concept Cliff House would offer unrivalled views of the Indian Ocean for couples who like to live life on the edge.

Australian architectural firm Modscape’s ambitious designs were inspired by the way a barnacle clings to the hull of a ship.

“The design is a theoretical response to clients who have approached us to explore design options for extreme parcels of coastal land in Australia,” they explain.

“A concept was developed for a modular home to hang off the side of a cliff as opposed to sitting on top of it.

“The home is visualised as a natural extension of the cliff face rather than an addition to the landscape, creating an absolute connection with the ocean.”

Leading architect Maxwell Hutchinson told the BBC the unconventional design was a feasible one despite the threat of coastal erosion.

Modscape propose a luxury, five-storey home fixed into the cliff face “using engineered steel pins”.

The company specialises in creating modular, prefabricated housing through collaboration with architects and engineers.
