It really depends on your situation. You probably need to think what the worst could happen if you did it, and be prepared for it. In my case, I felt i did good job, much more work, more responsibility, no one else do my work (translate: irreplaceable, haha, too naive), good relationship with boss, ... so I thought if i mention it in my annual review, the worst is a no, but I will still be work here. But I do understand the company economic situation is not good,so after the talk, I never mentioned it again.
