时下芝大，哥大还都采用传统的录取时设关卡的办法：
芝大：
“This admissions plan is binding, meaning that if admitted, you commit to attending UChicago, withdrawing outstanding applications from any other school, and not applying to any additional colleges.“
哥大：
“If you are admitted under the Early Decision program, you are obligated to accept Columbia’s offer of admission.
Once you accept Columbia’s offer of admission, you may not apply to any other colleges and must withdraw any applications that have already been submitted.“
