After you submitted the form and paid the fee, you should get the fee receipt (confirmation receipt). Then, you can send a letter amending the form to the address that is on the fee receipt to ask USCIS to fix it. Or make an InfoPass appointment online and carry your passport and fee receipt to the local USCIS Office to fix it. Also, you ask USCIS to stamp your passport with temporary evidence of resident status and you can use this to work, travel, etc.
