请教8老师：

我同学的绿卡在2012年过期了， 没有去延期。 人在上海，女儿是美国出生的21岁。 今天去签证被拒，被签证官告知有两个选择：1）延期绿卡 2）放弃绿卡。  因为考虑到以后可能要来美国和女儿一起生活, 她想做延期。 请教8老师的问题是：

1）如果办理绿卡延期， 如何办理？ 因为已经过期5年了，绿卡也弄丢了， 
-How long has she been China continuously? If it is more than one year (i.e. she has never returned to US within one year), then her green card has been void, and thus she cannot extend this green card. Therefore, she needs to abandon her green card in this case and then, apply for B2 visa to enter US.

2） 延期去哪里申请（从国内寄还是美国本土寄）？填啥表格, 需要多久能批？是否有延期被拒的可能？-If her green card is still valid (see my above explanation), then she needs to get the transportation letter from the US Consulate to travel to US, then file I-90 to renew the green card. She cannot renew her green card outside US.

3） 如果延期需要担保， 女儿现在读大学，可以担保吗？-No 担保 is needed for green card renewal.

4) 办理绿卡延期是在上海等绿卡吗？

5） 办理绿卡延期能推迟些才办理吗？ 因为想着一旦拿到绿卡了就得每年来美国待半年，家里还有母亲要照顾。
