-Depends on when your child was born, before or after one of you got the green card. If before one of parents got the green card, then the child needs to apply for 旅行证, otherwise, apply for 签证.

我们住在外州，附近没有中国使馆，如果办 旅行证需要带孩子亲自去使馆办吗？
-You may check the Chinese Consulate website, and I am sure there is very clear information there.
