-When your child applied for teh F-1 visa in the US Consulate, the VO may ask this question during the interview. If so, just explain it to the VO face to face at that time. If the VO does not ask, then don't say anything. But she needs to tell the truth whenever asked during the entire F-1 visa application processing and entry to US, and explain it as I suggested.
