父母终于拿到绿卡了！先谢谢8老师和各位老师的帮助。

现在父母打算回国，有几个问题想再次请教各位老师：

⑴父母打算9月中回国，3月初再来美国，约5个多月。是否持绿卡和护照即可合法地出入境？

-Yes.

还是需要其实的文件？

⑵有一说绿卡持有者每年要在美国至少居留6个月，是这样吗？怎么计算的呢？

-The principle is that the green card is used for live in US permenantly, not used as border-crossing card. So, it is fine occasionally  to travel and stay outside US for less than one year, but not travel too often.

⑶需要给他们申请social security number吗？

-Yes.

⑷他们需要报税吗？父母都年过70，已退休，在美无工作，与我同住。

-Had better do that.
