求教关于孩子J-2身份是否需要回国重新签证的问题

大家好，我是2014年7月来美国的访问学者（J-1），即将结束访学回国。我儿子今年5岁，去年9月以我的Dependent（J-2）身份来美国上幼儿园。他妈妈目前是J-1身份，在跟我同一所大学工作。她的项目要到2017年，所以我想把儿子转到她名下继续保持J-2身份在美国读书。请教：像这种情况，孩子的J-2身份不变，只是改变了所依赖的主申请人，孩子还需要回国再重新办签证吗？谢谢！
