Don't do it half an year ahead, or you will get delayed. Your file and check will be returned and the worst is if they already deposit your check before find out your file is earlier (even 1 day), then you need to receive the refund check first before you apply. Even one day earlier then 3 months before 5 years, you can't apply. Patience is needed, you can wait 4 and half years, just wait for 3 more months.
