My mom has green card, however needs to be home for a year. I understand

I should apply the AP for her. The AP can gurrantee her outside US for

2 years, right?

-It is reentry permit (RP), not AP. The RP can allow her to stay in US for < two years.

She can only use AP for one time in her life time, is this right?

-Not true. She can apply for th RP any time in the future when she needs it again (no limitation).

 Is there any other ways to allow her stay out of US for more than 1 or 2 years after the AP?

-She needs to come back to US to apply for another new one before the old RP expires.

We are in CA, she is on medi-cal plan. anything else we should be aware of before she leave?

 How long the AP process will take right now?

-About three months.

she plans to go back home in next March.

-It should be fine. But she can leave US after she does the fingerprinting if the RP applicaiton is still pending at that time.
