My case is similar to 论坛新人's. My understanding about a new H1-B sponsored by a company and validated from Oct 1 is you don't need to go outside the U.S. if your currect visa status can cover the gap between the expiration date of your former J-1 and the valid date of your H1-B on Oct 1. In 论坛新人's case, he/she has filed a temporary H1-B working at college, which can span the gap. he/she doesn't need to go outside the U.S. His/her I-94 number of H1-B on Oct 1 should be identical to J-1's. Is my understanding correct?
